Bacterial meningitis can claim victims quickly May 7, 2016
Five hundred Americans die every year from bacterial meningitis, and sometimes the battle is over quickly. Meningitis 'can rapidly proceed from initial symptoms to death, sometimes within six hours,' said Teresa Anderson, health director for the Central District Health Department. Shelby County Schools does not have any cases of measles in its school system, but the district is sending out letters to parents whose children do not have the required two doses of MMR vaccine. The letter states children cannot return to school until they have the immunization complete. [+] more
